The main reason to come to Khulo hangs over the gorge. The cable car runs from here to the village of Tago on the far side: about 1,900 metres of span with not a single intermediate pylon, some three hundred and fifty metres above the floor. The ride takes about ten minutes.
What to see
The Khulo–Tago cable car — no intermediate pylons, one of the more unusual in the region.
The village of Tago — on the far side of the gorge, a handful of houses and a view back at Khulo.
The Goderdzi pass — 2,025 metres, the highest point of the Batumi to Akhaltsikhe road.
The Beshumi plateau — a high summer settlement at 1,900 to 2,100 metres.
When to go
June to September, when the pass is open and Beshumi is alive. The rest of the year Khulo itself is reachable; beyond it is not.
