A two-day trip to Samtskhe-Javakheti without racing down the highway. On day one we walk through Borjomi park, taste mineral water straight from the spring and, if you like, ride the cable car above the town. In the evening we reach Akhaltsikhe and stay the night. On the morning of day two we visit Rabati Fortress, where a church, a mosque and a synagogue stand inside the same walls, then drive on to Vardzia, a 12th-century monastery carved into the cliff in the time of Queen Tamar. We head back to Batumi after lunch.
