Three days in Svaneti, enough to take it in properly rather than through a car window. Day one is mostly the drive: we stop at the Enguri Dam on the way, and in the evening walk around Mestia among the Svan towers and visit the museum. Day two is spent in the mountains around Mestia: a hike to the Chalaadi Glacier, the Hatsvali cable car and the Heshkili swings above the valley. On day three we drive to Ushguli, one of the highest permanently inhabited villages in Europe, and walk up to the glacier below Shkhara, Georgia's highest mountain. From there we head back to Batumi.
